Practice ethic

Our practice aims to provide an efficient service to all our clients. We endeavour to work closely with customers to turn their ideas into reality. 

All of our buildings are designed in close collaboration with the clients to provide buildings that are economical to build and operate and which provides a pleasant working or living environment which fully satisfies the brief and is aesthetically pleasing.

For many years our practice has had a policy of energy conservation and designing for low maintenance and low running costs wherever possible.

Well before the advent of recent health and safety legislation, our practice has striven to achieve designs that are both safe to construct and to maintain. We have taken on board the latest requirements for health and safety on building sites and for buildings, which are embodied in the CDM Regulations 2015 and subsequent amendments.

We have links to several local qualified health and safety consultants who can provide CDM coordinator services to clients, as required by current CDM Regulations. We can also assist non-domestic clients to fulfil their duties under the regulations.

At present our practice has a technical staff of three -
  • Antony Richardson, B.A. (Arch); Dip. Arch.; R.I.B.A. (Principal)
  • Penny Kohnstam, Assistant Architect
  • Philip Ord, Architectural Assistant
When necessary, additional technical and/or professional members are brought in on short-term contracts to deal with high workloads or specific projects. We have access to a number of contract professionals who have worked for our practice previously and who know our operating methods.

We are broad-based, tackling a wide variety of projects from simple house extensions to large scale multiple housing schemes for private developers and social landlords, as well as a variety of commercial, industrial, retail and health care projects.

We have a wide and varied private and public client base and have built up considerable expertise in the fields of community health care, public/private housing, and small to medium commercial/office developments.
